Clinical Research Nurse II
The Department of Neurological Surgery at the University of Pittsburgh is in search of a Clinical Research Nurse II. This position's duties include supporting clinical research projects by coordinating projects and drug trials, assessing patients' qualifications, and facilitating protocols. Collects and reviews patient data including medical histories and physical assessments, lab specimens and lab results and monitors results for adverse reactions;
assists in study medication accountability and monitoring adverse events and protocol-specific treatments. Assesses patients for inclusion and performs specialized nursing duties such as arterial puncture, venipuncture, and operation of electronic monitoring equipment; assists with lumbar puncture and multi-modality intracranial monitoring procedures. Maintains and enters data into databases/logs in a timely and accurate manner. Participates in the development of internal review board submissions as requested.
Collaborates with multiple investigators, sponsors, and research coordinators. Assists with training of new staff and ongoing guidance of newer staff. This position will require on call rotations.
Minimum education to be considered for this position is a Bachelor of Science in Nursing. RN license in PA is required. Work schedule is M-F 8:30am-5pm with occasional mornings, evenings, and weekends as needed and on call rotations.
