Located in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Stratus Materials is an early-stage, technology-based company focused on the development and manufacture of advanced active materials for the lithium-ion battery industry. Our primary focus is on advanced electric vehicle batteries, but our materials will also be applicable and very attractive for many other end-user applications using lithium-ion batteries. In late 2025, the company secured a substantial Series B round of financing and is using those funds to execute on its business plans.

The entry-level Electrode/Cell Technician operates within our electrode and cell laboratory. This role is responsible for executing precise laboratory builds and workflows, conducting quality control inspections, and supporting data-driven process improvements. The ideal candidate possesses exceptional attention to detail, has strong hand/eye skills, strictly adheres to standard operating procedures (SOPs), maintains rigorous digital records, and effectively communicates technical findings to cross-functional teams.
Key Responsibilities:
● SOP Adherence:
Execute and monitor routine laboratory processes following established Standard Operating Procedures.
● Quality Inspection:
Conduct meticulous quality control testing on electrode and cell materials to ensure product standards.
● Data Documentation:
Input and track experimental methods, analytical data, and test results across various digital quality systems.
● Technical Communication:
Document and report data findings clearly to material scientists, process engineers, and test engineers.

Cross-Functional Collaboration:
Partner with the Operations, Quality, and R&D teams to execute controlled research and production tasks.
● Equipment Maintenance:
Perform regular inspections, cleaning, and basic troubleshooting of laboratory instrumentation.
● Safety Compliance:
Act as a champion for safety protocols and maintain strict adherence to all laboratory safety policies. Requirements – Education, Experience, and
Skills:

Education:
A.S. or B.S. in a technical field. Degree in Chemistry, Materials Science is a plus.
● Attention to Detail:
Demonstrated ability to focus on precise tasks and reliably repeat complex procedures.
● Communication
Skills:
Strong verbal and written communication skills for reporting technical data.
● Technical Literacy:
Proficiency with digital data entry, word processing, spreadsheets, and graphical user interface (GUI) laboratory software.
● Organizational
Skills:
Excellent time management with the ability to maintain neat, accurate records in structured databases.
● Teamwork:
Ability to collaborate effectively within a fast-paced, continuously changing technical environment.

Experience:
Prior exposure to a laboratory environment or materials fabrication setting is highly preferred.
● Mechanical Aptitude:
Basic mechanical knowledge and familiarity with standard hand tools is a plus. Requirements – Geographic and Physical:
