Research Technician (Fazzari Lab)
One Laboratory Research Technician II position is available immediately in the laboratory of Dr. Marco Fazzari at the Department of Pharmacology and Chemical Biology, University of Pittsburgh, to study fatty acid nitroalkene signaling in Parkinson and other diseases. The areas of study include signal transduction, drug discovery and development. This is a staff position equivalent to a lab technician. The candidate will assist in overseeing daily lab operations, perform GC-MS and HPLC-MS analysis, maintain rodent colonies, perform routine lab procedures, and train student worker employees.
The salary will be commensurate with skills and experience.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform ongoing and expanding GC-MS and HPLC-MS analysis of biological fluids and tissues.
- Manage and maintain rodent colonies and conduct animal experiments.
- Perform independent laboratory experiments, including developing experimental procedures and preparing reagents and specimens.
- Maintain tissue cultures and perform a variety of cell-based assays.
- Manage lab inventory and supply ordering.
- Maintain detailed, accurate, and up-to-date records and logbooks.
- Analyze experimental data, prepare lab reports, and contribute to publications.
- Mentor student worker employees, support the development of their technical expertise and professional growth.
Qualifications:
- Candidates must master GC-MS and HPLC-MS analysis and have experience working with animals.
- Candidates must hold a B.S. or B.A. in a biology/biochemistry-related field and demonstrate comprehensive knowledge of rodent colony management, cell biology, signal transduction, and pharmacology.
Location:
This is a full-time, in-person position. The role requires regular attendance and participation in on-site meetings.
