Research Technician

The Research Technician will support translational and preclinical leukemia research within the Leukemia Drug Development Laboratory. Under the supervision of the Principal Investigator and senior laboratory personnel, the individual will perform a wide range of laboratory techniques to support studies focused on the development and evaluation of novel therapeutic strategies for hematologic malignancies. Responsibilities include conducting cell culture experiments, processing human and murine samples, assisting with animal studies, performing molecular and cellular assays, maintaining laboratory records, and ensuring compliance with institutional biosafety and animal care regulations.

The Research Technician will also assist with reagent preparation, laboratory organization, equipment maintenance, inventory management, and data collection to support ongoing research projects and publications.

Education and Experience Requirements:

Bachelor's degree in biology, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Biomedical Sciences, or a closely related scientific field. One to three years of laboratory research experience in an academic, biotechnology, or pharmaceutical setting is preferred. Experience with mammalian cell culture, molecular biology techniques (PCR, qPCR, Western blotting), flow cytometry, and standard biochemical assays is preferred. Experience handling mouse tissues, processing blood and bone marrow samples, or working under animal research protocols is desirable.

Familiarity with aseptic technique, laboratory safety procedures, and accurate record keeping preferred. Strong organizational, communication, and time management skills with the ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a multidisciplinary research environment. Proficiency with Microsoft Office and basic scientific data analysis software is preferred. Experience with leukemia, hematologic malignancy, immunology, or cancer biology research preferred.

Job Summary:

Performs a variety of independent laboratory work and experiments such as determining experimental protocols and preparation of specimens and cultures. Prepares reports of findings subsequent to compilation and analyzation. Oversees specimen inventory. Develops documentation for publication; crafts manuscripts and grant proposals.

Essential Functions:

Mainly help and performing experiments, present data in the lab meeting. Supervisor will advice the protocols for the experiment.

Physical Effort:
Little physical effort required. Duties are primarily sedentary. May be required to move objects up to 25 pounds occasionally.
