The Department of Surgery, Division of General/Trauma Surgery, at the University of Pittsburgh seeks a Visiting Scholar to work in a research program directed by Dr. Timothy Billiar. This is an exciting opportunity for a hard-working research scholar who is a highly self-motivated individual.

Job description:

The successful candidate will focus on analyzing existing human elective surgery, trauma transcriptomic, and other omics datasets to advance understanding of age-related differences in immune function and recovery following injury. This research is expected to span a two-year period and will involve the interpretation of complex biological data, development of research hypotheses, and collaboration with multidisciplinary teams of clinicians and scientists.

Requirements:
Candidates must possess an M.D./Ph.D. degree and have a strong background in clinical medicine, bench research, and experimental design. Applicants should demonstrate the ability to work effectively in a collaborative research environment and have an interest in partnering with individuals from diverse professional backgrounds, including both clinicians and basic scientists. Strong written and verbal communication skills are essential, along with evidence of effective scientific writing, interpersonal skills, and proficiency in the English language.
