Research Project Manager UPCI Research Lab
This position is to serve as a Research Project Manager for the Schmitz Lab and will lead many of the operational aspects required for several research projects. This position requires a highly self-directed professional who exercises sound judgment, takes ownership of outcomes, and requires minimal supervision. The Research Project Manager will coordinate research activities involving multiple sites. These studies require the development and maintenance of connections with members of the study team, including principal investigators and clinicians, as well as research participants, IRB members, and clinical staff.
The Research Project Manager will use Good Clinical Practice (GCP) guidelines to help develop techniques and procedures that promote the efficient completion of complex research projects and tasks. Other responsibilities include:
- Managing project budgets
- Overseeing the work of interns and junior study staff
- Using national and institutional research policies to recruit subjects
- Obtaining informed consent
- Scheduling study-related appointments
- Collecting and coordinating study data
- Troubleshooting issues that occur before, during and after patient visits
- Managing regulatory documents
- Analyzing data
- Assisting with the preparation and submission of grant applications and scientific manuscripts
- Coordinating study activities across multiple research sites
Job Summary:
Manages all aspects of one or more projects for a research program and oversees all aspects of the project lifecycle. Provides leadership, technical direction, coordination, and expertise across projects. Analyzes progress and/or performance and prepares reports. Ensures compliance with budget, scope, timeline, and regulations. Assists with external communications. Essential Functions Primarily sedentary. May be required to stand for extended periods of time at lab bench.
Physical Effort Little physical effort required. Duties are primarily sedentary. May be required to move objects up to 25 pounds occasionally. The University of Pittsburgh is an equal opportunity employer / disability / veteran.
