As a Meat Department Team Member, you will receive, rotate, cut, wrap, and merchandise fresh and processed meats, including grinds. You will also assist with merchandising seafood, prepared foods, cheeses, and pre‑packed deli items, and help maintain the rotisserie chicken area and full service deli.
Major Tasks, Responsibilities, and Key Accountabilities- Engage and assist members by recommending products and answering questions about meat, poultry, and seafood.
- Prepare special cuts of meat ordered by members.
- Cut, grind, and process fresh meats to company cutting standards.
- Weigh, package, wrap, and label cuts of meat, poultry, and seafood to company packaging standards.
- Display the meat case to showcase all currently available products.
- Maintain appropriate inventory levels for the meat department.
- Ensure all meat, seafood, prepared foods, and cheese cases are fully stocked.
- Rotate all products according to expiration dates.
- Dispose of damaged or expired products following established guidelines.
- Clean and sanitize all equipment, display fixtures, and areas in the meat department.
- Inspect and store received meat upon delivery, ensuring quality standards are met.
- Unpack and store meat, poultry, seafood, prepared foods, and cheeses in the cooler and freezer.
- Maintain all club policies and procedures.
- Perform other duties as assigned, including placing orders and working in other departments as needed.
- Maintain regular, predictable, full attendance as an essential function of this job.
- Completion of a training program or apprenticeship is required.
- Previous meat cutting experience is required.
- Knowledge of automatic or hand wrapping machines is preferred.
- Minimum age 18 years.
Most of the time is spent moving around on hard surfaces. Activities may require bending, pulling, reaching or stooping, and frequent lifting of objects up to 30 pounds. The work environment is a cooler area with temperature extremes, loud noises, and occasional exposure to cleaning agents.
