Job Description Summary

A Field Sales Manager achieves sales volume and distribution objectives of the company and supplier by managing and coaching a team of sales representatives to meet performance goals through planning, organization, training, and execution.

Job Responsibilities Coaching and Team Management
  • Conduct effective one‑on‑one sales meetings with representatives to communicate objectives, review performance, and guide on closing gaps.
  • Develop and review performance enhancement plans, maintain training files, conduct evaluations, monitor 90‑day evaluations, perform coaching calls, fill out MBOs, and follow up on progress.
  • Address skill deficiencies by developing customized coaching plans, tracking progress, and recording improvement.
  • Pre‑plan each sales period through one‑on‑one meetings to strategize goal achievement and define target accounts.
  • Participate in associate interview and selection, source candidates, schedule interviews, conduct interviews, and manage onboarding.
Customer Relationship and Territory Management
  • Maintain relationships with key accounts, identify opportunities, perform business reviews, develop opening orders for new accounts, and sell-in store replenishments.
  • Manage supplier surveys by planning routes, pre‑surveying accounts, conducting surveys, recapping results, and scheduling sales representatives.
  • Coordinate supplier ride‑withs with Business Managers for scheduling of sales representatives.
  • Resolve customer issues following administrative processes, applying company policies, and escalating to management when needed.

Other duties, as assigned by the jobholder’s supervisor, may also be required.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field and/or equivalent training and work experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years of related sales experience.
  • Proficient PC skills using MS Office and other various computer programs, including presentation software.
  • Results‑oriented professional with strong verbal/written communication, diplomacy, discretion, and customer service skills.
  • Ability to multi‑task, work independently and within a team, pay attention to detail, and meet deadlines.
  • Analytical and reporting skills.
  • Sound judgment and problem‑solving skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast‑paced, high‑volume, team environment.
  • Valid driver’s license.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Ability to hold a Solicitor’s Permit.
  • Understanding of Wine and Spirits.
Physical Requirements
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, sit, talk, hear, and use hands and fingers to operate a computer and telephone.
Competencies
  • Coordinate the work of junior team members.
  • Resolve varied, non‑routine issues through analysis and investigation.
