THE POSITION
Start a meaningful career as a Corrections Community Center Monitor with the Pittsburgh Community Corrections Center (CCC). DESCRIPTION OF WORKThis position provides direct supervision and support to reentrants by ensuring safety, structure, and accountability within the center. The role focuses on maintaining security, conducting checks, and assisting with reentrant progress. As a Corrections Community Center Monitor, you will perform the following duties:
- Safety Checks:
Monitor reentrant behavior, maintain activity logs, and observe through direct contact and closed‑circuit television (CCTV) - Security Procedures:
Conduct counts, searches, and inventories of property, medications, tools, and supplies - Orientation Support:
Explain rules, assign duties, perform inspections, and assist reentrants with daily expectations - Accountability Testing:
Administer breathalyzer and urinalysis tests and document results - Public Interaction:
Provide information to visitors and respond appropriately to concerns - Agency Coordination:
Serve as a point‑of‑contact for law enforcement and support new monitors with training

Work Schedule and Additional Information- Full‑time employment, 40 hours per week
- Community Corrections Centers are staffed by 3 work shifts that cover the facility 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year.

You will not have the option to telework in this position. - Salary:
Selected candidates who are new to employment with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $41,999.00 (before taxes). - You will receive further communication regarding this position via email. - You must successfully complete classroom training at the DOC Training Academy in Elizabethtown, Pennsylvania.
- You must be willing and able to work in Pittsburgh, Allegheny County, Pennsylvania.
- You must have the ability to work different shifts or irregular scheduled hours.
- You must be able to perform essential job functions.
- Two (2) years of experience performing public safety or security work. (Examples of qualifying experience include but are not limited to public safety or security work involving protection of persons and/or property and maintaining required security through enforcement of rules, regulations, and laws; public safety or security work in a correctional setting, juvenile, or adult development/detention center, law enforcement entity, or military security experience)
- One (1) year of work experience providing direction/guidance to individuals. (Examples of qualifying work experience include but are not limited to performing as a lead worker or supervisor assigning and evaluating work tasks, providing informal counseling, or giving orders in the Military)
- You must pass a background investigation and meet Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) compliance requirements.
