Carpenter - Ebensburg Center

THE POSITION

Are you a skilled carpenter searching for an exciting opportunity to demonstrate your expertise? As a Carpenter 1 with the Department of Human Services, you will help create and maintain the spaces that support vital services at Ebensburg Center. This role gives you the opportunity to work on a wide range of repairs and construction tasks. This role focuses on building, repairing, and maintaining structures throughout the facility to ensure safe and efficient operations. As a Carpenter 1, you will perform the following duties:

• Structural Repair:
  Maintain and fix floors, windows, roofs, locks, furniture, and other building features
• Construction Tasks:
  Lay tile, brick, stone, and concrete to build or improve structures as needed
• Tool Operation:
  Use manual and pneumatic tools to break and remove materials during repair work
• Preventive Maintenance:
  Inspect and service doors, windows, floors, roofs, and equipment to avoid breakdowns
• New Installations:
  Install new doors, windows, floors, locks, and other materials to support facility needs
• Equipment Support:
  Repair furniture and assist in building program equipment to extend its lifespan

• Full‑time employment, 37.5 hours per week
• Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday‑Friday, with a 30‑minute lunch. You will work a rotating schedule that includes holidays and one weekend a month. Your schedule may change based on operational needs.

• Successful completion of the Building Trades Trainee program (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
• Three years of experience in the construction, installation, repair, restoration, or maintenance of structures and articles made from wood, composite, and wood substitute materials; or
• An equivalent combination of experience and training.

• You must meet the PA residency requirement.
• You must be able to perform essential job functions.

• A conditional offer of employment will require a medical examination.
• This position falls under the provisions of the Older Adult Protective Services Act.
