Diesel Mechanic

Position Description
Ryder is hiring an experienced Mid-Level Diesel Technician in York, Pennsylvania. This position offers weekly pay, excellent benefits, and a career focused on maintaining and repairing heavy-duty vehicles.

• Hourly Pay: $26.00 per hour
• Certification Bonus: $100 for each new ASE Certification obtained, up to $700
• Quarterly Bonus: up to $500 every quarter
• Sign-On Bonus: $1,250 at 30 days and $1,250 at 90 days
• Schedule:
  
  Monday–Friday, weekends OFF
• Hours:
  
  First Shift 6:30 am – 3:00 pm

• Perform vehicle maintenance and repair duties.
• Conduct standard vehicle maintenance and component inspections.
• Perform preventive maintenance.
• Diagnose mechanical and electronic problems, using diagnostic computers when applicable.
• Identify root causes of failures and perform necessary repairs.
• Replace defective components as instructed.
• Complete facility maintenance duties.
• Interact with customers and drivers to assess complaints.
• Utilize the Shop Management System and electronic documentation.
• Comply with all federal, provincial, and corporate guidelines (safety, DOT, MOT).
• Provide support duties as required, including Service Island support.

• High school diploma or equivalent (preferred).
• Vocational or technical certification, post-secondary degree, or technical certifications (preferred).
• Demonstrated aptitude and experience in mechanical repair of automotive gas or diesel engines, including routine preventive maintenance such as oil changes, brake and tire work.
• Two (2) years or more of combined classroom training and work experience (preferred).
• Valid Commercial Driver License (CDL) Class A, preferred.
• Must be able to obtain a CDL within 6 months after hire.
• Pass a Ryder Drug Test, DOT physical, Ryder road test, and background check including motor vehicle records for the last 3 years.

• Some positions require additional screening, such as employment and education verification, motor vehicle record checks, a road test, or customer-specific background and badge requirements.
