Field Service Technician HVAC - Data Center

Compensation Range: $30 - $50 / hr

Data Center Service Technicians travel to customer sites to start up, commission, and troubleshoot Data Center equipment. The role requires independent work, strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills, and the ability to manage projects onsite while coordinating other trades and services.

• Perform factory start‑up, commissioning, warranty, and billable service on Munters Data Center equipment and systems.
• Maintain and protect Munters equipment and property.
• Respond promptly to all service requests from customers or management.
• Provide customer training on Munters equipment.
• Provide detailed field service reports with technical feedback on equipment.
• Act as a first‑line response to customers’ needs, working collaboratively with the team to ensure availability for urgent or routine service.

• Minimum 5 years of experience and extensive mechanical/HVAC knowledge.
• Frequent travel (up to 90%) across the USA by plane and car.
• Extensive electrical troubleshooting skills and ability to record data.
• Knowledge of safety procedures; training in Arc Flash, Lock‑Out/Tag‑Out, and PPE usage.
• Refrigeration expertise: pressure testing, evacuation, charging, troubleshooting, brazing, and soldering.
• Holding a universal refrigeration card; state‑licensed Master HVAC mechanic optional but preferred.
• Experience with controls, programming, and downloading to PLC systems; ability to access and adjust PLC data.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Self‑motivated and able to work independently with effective coordination among site personnel, Sales PM, Service Manager, and Technical Support.

High school diploma or equivalent. Trade school education desired.

Heavy lifting up to 75 pounds of force occasionally, 20 pounds frequently or constantly. Includes climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, and using close visual acuity for detailed tasks.

Required to wear PPE (safety glasses, boots, hard hats, hearing protection) as mandated by the company. Ability to travel and reside away from home for several days. Willingness to take on‑call duties, occasionally work weekends or holidays, work outdoors in all weather, and work at heights of 6 feet or more.
