Diesel Mechanic Technician B - 3rd shift

Perform preventative maintenance of medium to heavy‑duty trucks, trailers, reefer units, and converter dollies under minimal supervision. Ensure compliance with all state and federal trucking regulations. Communicate and interact with co‑workers professionally, ensuring questions are answered accurately and in a timely manner. Technicians are responsible for documenting, completing, and keeping work orders current for all repairs and parts used daily. The position will be required to perform road‑call services as needed.

• Perform preventative maintenance on minor repairs and standard component inspections/repairs of fleet diesel equipment (tractors, trailers, refrigeration units), identify root causes of basic failures and conditions, and perform repairs as required.
• Ensure equipment has required licensing and registration before being deemed roadworthy.
• Complete thorough documentation for work orders of repairs and preventative maintenance through the online Enterprise Asset Management system.
• Install, replace, and repair onboard computers.
• Inspect brake systems, steering mechanisms, wheel bearings, and other important parts to ensure proper operating condition, replacing parts when necessary.
• Perform routine maintenance such as changing oil, checking batteries, and lubricating equipment and machinery using hand tools (screwdrivers, pliers, wrenches, pressure gauges, precision instruments) and power tools (pneumatic wrenches, welding equipment, jacks and hoists).
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Required

Education:

High School Diploma/GED or Equivalent Experience

Required Experience:

2+ years of proven medium to heavy‑duty vehicle repair, including preventive maintenance, tire & wheel work, air and air‑disc brake diagnostics, computerized diagnostics, electrical troubleshooting, electronic component repair, and experience in A/C refrigeration.

Preferred Education:

Associate’s/2‑year technical vocational or trade school diploma.

Preferred Experience:

3+ years of proven medium to heavy‑duty vehicle repair, including preventive maintenance, tire & wheel work, air and air‑disc brake diagnostics, computerized diagnostics, electrical troubleshooting, electronic component repair, and experience in A/C refrigeration.

Preferred Professional

Certifications:

Prefer certifications in tire & wheel, brakes, A/C, EPA, DOT inspections, transmissions, engines, ASEAN Heavy Duty.
