Job Overview

The Robotics and Automation Technician I will perform maintenance and repairs on automated manufacturing equipment—including robotics, material handling systems, conveyors, assembly and test equipment, and programmable logic controller interfaces.

Responsibilities
  • Perform preventative and reactive maintenance on robotic and automated systems, including adjustments, repairs, changeovers, lubrication, and component replacement.
  • Use hand tools, power tools, and precision instruments for repair and maintenance of conveyors and assembly/test equipment.
  • Operate, program, and troubleshoot PLC and HMI systems (Allen‑Bradley, Fanuc, etc.) using teach pendant and diagnostic tools.
  • Open, close, and edit work orders in the CMMS system with accurate detail and time accounting.
  • Follow safety protocols (Lock‑out/Tag‑out, personal protective equipment) and maintain priority on safety for all operations.
  • Follow procedures, instructions, and direction from senior technicians and engineers to complete work on schedule.
  • Perform any other duties assigned by management.
Competencies
  • Familiarity with startup and shutdown of automated equipment and navigation of Human‑Machine Interfaces (HMI).
  • Ability to diagnose and recover from prescribed faults via on‑screen tools.
  • Foundation‑level experience with articulated robot programming and operation.
  • Experience with Lock‑out/Tag‑out and safety protocols in a highly automated electrical environment.
  • Reading and interpreting pneumatic, hydraulic, and electrical schematics and drawings.
  • Understanding of sensor, vision, and digital I/O modules; ability to replace and set up sensors.
  • Experience with various conveyance systems (index, roller, belted, index table).
Skills & Requirements
  • Strong critical thinking and problem‑solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication.
  • Team‑oriented and able to work under supervision.
  • Ability to work 12‑hour shifts, including weekends.
  • Capable of lifting up to 50 lbs and standing or walking for prolonged periods.
Education and Experience
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Associate’s degree, 2‑year technical school, or equivalent work experience preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in an automated manufacturing environment.
Safety & Hazards

The role involves exposure to moving mechanical parts, vibration, electrical current, temperature variations, chemicals, fumes, dust, noise, and requires the use of safety equipment such as eye protection, hearing protection, work boots, and lab coats.
