Corrections Maintenance Foreman - SCI Coal Township

THE POSITION

The Corrections Maintenance Foreman position with the Department of Corrections (DOC) offers an exciting chance to lead hands-on work at the State Correctional Institution (SCI) at Coal Township. This role places you in a fast-paced environment where you guide inmate work crews, complete projects, and help keep essential operations running. You will play an important part in maintaining facility structure and reliability.

This position focuses on supervising inmate work crews and completing skilled maintenance tasks throughout the facility. It involves planning work schedules, inspecting assignments, and ensuring efficient operations. As a Corrections Maintenance Foreman, you will perform the following duties:

• Crew Supervision:
  Lead inmate workers in construction, groundskeeping, janitorial duties, and general maintenance
• Work Planning:
  Assign daily schedules, oversee tasks, and inspect completed work
• Skill Guidance:
  Provide instruction in the operation of machinery, review tool use, and support preventative maintenance
• Trade Assistance:
  Assist with carpentry, plumbing, electrical work, painting, and other skilled trades
• Tool Inventory:
  Issue materials, track tools, and conduct searches to ensure proper accountability
• Supply Management:
  Identify needed materials and submit purchase requests to support work assignments

• Full-time employment, 40 hours per week
• Work hours are 7:30 AM to 3:30 PM, Monday - Friday.
• This position is eligible for full retirement benefits at age 50 or 55.
• Telework:
  You will not have the option to telework in this position.
• Salary:
  
  Selected candidates who are new to employment within the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $49,010.00 (before taxes).

• Four years of experience performing building maintenance, construction, or general trades work; or
• An equivalent combination of experience and training.

• Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethton, PA is required.
• You must possess a valid driver's license.
• You must be able to perform essential job functions.

• You must pass a background investigation and meet Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) compliance requirements.
