Scaler Operator - Underground Limestone Mine

What You'll Be Doing

Operate scaling equipment to remove loose rock and debris from mine walls and ceilings. Conduct regular inspections of mine areas to identify and address potential hazards. Perform routine maintenance and repairs on scaling equipment. Ensure compliance with safety regulations and procedures. Support the mining team with various tasks as needed. Work in an underground environment with heights of 27 feet and a temperature between 50-60 degrees.

Strong attention to detail and accuracy. Ability to operate and troubleshoot bolting/scaling equipment. Effective communication and teamwork skills. Commitment to safety and compliance. Capability to perform routine maintenance tasks. Must be able to work safely and follow all federal and state laws and regulations as well as company and site-specific policies. Must be able to operate scaling/bolting equipment safely and efficiently in a tight, underground environment.

Must be able to conduct and document pre-operational safety inspections on assigned equipment. Must be able to visually evaluate roof and rib conditions. Communicate repair and safety issues to supervisor and/or mechanic. Available to work Saturdays and overtime as business demands dictate. Must be punctual and have reliable transportation to and from work. Must perform within the guidelines of federal, state, and local regulatory agencies.

Successful candidate must submit to post-offer pre-employment physical examination, drug/alcohol screen, and background check. Some positions require FMCSA regulated ongoing drug and alcohol testing. Work Environment Role operates primarily in environments where the conditions include moving mechanical equipment, inclement weather, heat, cold, humidity, and elevated noise level.
