Overview
As a County Caseworker 1 with Delaware County Children & Youth, you will play a key part in helping families stay safe and strong. This role gives you the chance to learn new skills while offering support to children and their caregivers. Your work will matter from the first day as you connect people with the help they need. ResponsibilitiesThis position focuses on offering direct support to families through assessments, guidance, and coordination of services. You will provide help in community settings and homes while building strong relationships. As a County Caseworker 1, you will perform the following duties:
- Conduct Assessments: Complete evaluations and investigations to understand family needs
- Manage Cases: Organize services and maintain steady communication with families
- Support Families: Provide guidance in areas such as home routines, budgeting, and child care
- Coordinate Services: Connect families with community resources to improve well‑being
- Document Findings: Maintain accurate records to support decision‑making and service planning
- Full‑time employment
- Work hours are 8:30 am to 4:30 pm, Monday–Friday, with a 30‑minute lunch. The position may require working beyond the regular workday hours to meet the needs of families.
- Telework:
No telework for the first six months of employment. After completing six months and attaining regular status, there may be opportunities for hybrid work, per the program office’s hybrid schedule.

Qualifications- Two years of experience as a County Social Services Aide 3 and two years of college‑level coursework, including 12 college credits in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, criminal justice, or another related social science;
or - A bachelor's degree which includes or is supplemented by successful completion of 12 college credits in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, criminal justice, or another related social science;
or - Any equivalent combination of experience and training that includes 12 college credits in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, criminal justice, or another related social science and one year of experience as a County Social Services Aide 3 or in a similar position performing paraprofessional case‑management functions.
- Applicants will be considered to have met the educational requirements once they are within two months of graduating with a qualifying degree or credits.
- PA residency requirement is currently waived for this title.
- You must be able to perform essential job functions.
- You must pass a background investigation.
- This position falls under the provisions of the Child Protective Services Law. Under the Law, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports, including PA State Police clearance, PA Child Abuse history clearance, and FBI Fingerprint clearance.
