Job DescriptionCounty Caseworker 1 supports individuals and families as they work toward safer and more stable lives. The role involves evaluating needs and guiding clients to helpful services.
Duties include:
- Social Interviews:
Gather detailed personal histories through in-depth client interviews - Program Information:
Provide clear explanations of available agency programs and services - Eligibility Review:
Determine and verify client eligibility for program benefits - Referral Coordination:
Connect clients with partner agencies for additional support - Action Planning:
Develop and carry out social plans that guide clients toward improved well‑being - Counseling Support:
Offer structured counseling and related guidance to help clients move forward
- Full‑time employment.
- Work hours are 8:30 AM to 4:00 PM Monday through Friday, with a one‑hour lunch.
- Caseworkers may be required to work outside regularly scheduled hours.
- Caseworkers are required to participate in a 24‑hour on‑call rotation.
- Employees receive thirteen paid holidays, plus paid sick and vacation leave.
- Travel is required.
- Telework:
This position does not offer telework.
- Two years as a County Social Services Aide 3 and two years of college‑level coursework, including 12 credits in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, criminal justice, or related social sciences;
- A bachelor’s degree with, or supplemented by, 12 credits in the above subjects; or
- An equivalent combination of experience and training including 12 credits in the above subjects and one year as a County Social Services Aide 3 or a similar paraprofessional case‑management position.
Applicants will be considered to have met the educational requirements within two months of graduating with a qualifying degree or credits.
Other Requirements- PA residency requirement is currently waived for this title.
- You must be able to perform the essential job functions.
- Must pass a background investigation.
- This position falls under the provisions of the Child Protective Services Law.
- TRS 711 available for hearing and speech disabilities.
