THE POSITION
Located in Honesdale, PA, Wayne County Children and Youth Services seeks qualified and motivated individuals to support children and families within the community. Candidates must possess strong organizational skills, sound judgment, and the ability to manage multiple responsibilities effectively. DESCRIPTIONOF WORK
This position plays a key role in helping children and families address challenges that affect their daily lives. You will work directly with families to support safety, stability, and growth. As a County Caseworker 2, you will perform the following duties:
- Client Interviews:
Conduct interviews with children, families, and others to identify factors affecting child well-being - Service Eligibility:
Determine and verify family eligibility for agency programs and services - Case Management:
Manage a caseload while keeping records accurate, organized, and current - Family Support:
Assist families in developing plans that promote healthier lifestyles and improved stability - Protective Services:
Provide support for children who may be abused or neglected and assist with court-related duties - Field Work:
Travel frequently to homes and locations inside and outside the county while meeting deadlines in changing environments
The following details outline the schedule and additional information for this position:
- Full-time employment, 37.5 hours per week.
- Work hours are 8:00 am to 4:30 pm, Monday - Friday, with a 1-hour lunch.
- On-call 24/7 on a rotating basis. Irregular hours, including evenings and weekends.
- Telework:

- Six months of experience as a County Caseworker 1; or
- Successful completion of the County Social Casework Intern program; or
- A bachelor's degree with a social welfare major; or
- A bachelor's degree which includes or is supplemented by 12 college credits in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, criminal justice, or other related social sciences and one year of professional social casework experience in a public or private social service agency; or
- Any equivalent combination of experience and training which includes 12 college credits in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, criminal justice, or other related social sciences.
- Applicants will be considered to have met the educational requirements once they are within two months of graduating with a qualifying degree/credits.
- PA residency requirement is currently waived for this title.
- You must be able to perform essential job functions.
- You must pass a background investigation.
- A conditional offer of employment will require a drug screening.
- This position falls under the provisions of the Child Protective Services Law.
- Under the Law, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports including, but not limited to, PA State Police clearance, PA Child Abuse history clearance, and FBI Fingerprint clearance.
