Wayne County Transportation Department is seeking qualified applicants for a position providing door-to-door transportation services to county residents. This role requires strong communication skills, dependability, and the ability to work independently while assisting individuals in accessing essential services. This position offers the opportunity to make a meaningful impact within the community.
Enhance the mobility of consumers by providing professional and accessible transportation in a safe, reliable, comfortable and courteous manner. Operate county vehicle an average of 150 miles each day. This is an opportunity to provide transportation service as well as social contact for our consumers (includes senior adults and wheelchair-dependent persons). Chance to work independently. Excellent communication skills required, both person to person and via two-way radio.
Willingness and patience to assist consumers, including senior adults and wheelchair-dependent consumers along rough payment or unpaved paths. Ability to easily adjust in daily schedule. Must be a people-person as you will be providing important assistance and socialization throughout the day.
- Part‑time employment, 14‑21+ hours per week.
- Transportation operates 4 AM to 9 PM, Monday through Friday and limited hours on Saturdays.
- You will not have the option to telework.
- Salary may be non‑negotiable in some cases.
- Email communication will be used for updates.
- Minimum:
One year of employment that required operation of a motor vehicle as a regular duty, or any equivalent combination of experience and training. - Must possess a valid Pennsylvania driver’s license.
- No suspension of driver’s license within the last three years.
- Must meet Pennsylvania residency requirement.
- Must be able to perform essential job functions.
- Must pass a background investigation.
- Conditional offer requires a medical examination and drug screening.
- This position falls under the provisions of the Child Protective Services Law and requires satisfactory criminal history reports, including PA State Police, PA Child Abuse, and FBI fingerprints.
