Job Summary
Pay Range: $28.00 BOE (Beginning of Employment).
Shift: Monday – Friday, 4 a.m. start time.
Drivers operate heavy‑duty trucks equipped with front, side, or rear‑end load lift attachments, depending on the line of business and truck type. They transport material to disposal, transfer, or recycle facilities when trucks reach legal load capacity. Commercial drivers provide pick‑up service of containers filled with waste or recyclable material, sometimes maneuvering wheeled containers into a pick‑up stage area. Residential drivers collect household waste or recyclables while navigating residential environments.
Roll‑off drivers prepare, load, and transport large mobile open‑top or compactor containers from customer locations, often in tight overhead environments.
- Operate vehicle in accordance with Waste Management Safety and Life Critical Rules, OSHA, and DOT requirements, as well as all local, state, and federal laws.
- Perform pre‑ and post‑trip inspections of the assigned vehicle and document checks using the standard Driver Vehicle Inspection Report (DVIR).
- Report all unsafe situations or service‑related issues immediately to the Operations Manager or Dispatch.
- Attend and participate in all scheduled training programs, briefings, and meetings as required.
- Work closely with the Operations Manager to improve route efficiencies and identify best practices.
- Notify the Operations Manager of any incidents, accidents, injuries, or property damage.
- Inform the Operations Manager or Dispatch of service interruptions such as closed or impassable streets, overly heavy receptacles, or potential safety hazards.
- Communicate customer requests to the Operations Manager or Dispatch.
- Completely dump all receptacles and leave the customer’s location clean and free of debris.
- Follow route assignments as directed and complete end‑of‑day documentation and check‑out process.
- Perform all duties as scheduled by the Operations Manager or Dispatch and assist other drivers as directed to meet customer needs.
A. Required Qualifications
- At least one year of operating a vehicle requiring a CDL, or one year of equivalent military driving within the last seven years.
- Able to read, write, and speak English well enough to interact with the public, understand traffic signs, respond to official questions, and complete records or reports.
- Must be at least 18 years of age and legally eligible to work in the country where the position is located.
- Class A Commercial Driver License (CDL) with an air‑brake endorsement (upon hire).
- Class B Commercial Driver License (CDL) with an air‑brake endorsement (upon hire).
B. Preferred Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED (accredited).
