Multilingual Learners Teacher; MLL Specialist SY

Overview

Neighborhood House Charter School (NHCS) is a tuition-free open enrollment charter school for grades K1-12 in Dorchester. We serve over 800 students across two campuses and focus on the social-emotional well-being of our students. We seek an MLL Specialist to join our team.

Reporting to the ELD Coordinator, the Multilingual Learners Teacher is responsible for the specialized teaching and learning of English to our MLL students in grades K-6. This includes pull-in and push-out services, assessment, collaboration with team members, and a focus on developing the reading, writing, speaking, listening and critical thinking skills of our scholars.

This is a full-time position (Monday-Friday, 7:45-4:00) at our Queen St. Campus.

Candidates who share two or more points of intersection with our scholars are eligible for a priority qualification bonus of up to $2,000.

• Bachelor's Degree required;
  Master's Degree preferred
• Teachers must either be certified or licensed to teach in Massachusetts or have passed, prior to the end of their first year of employment, the Massachusetts Tests for Educator Licensure (MTEL). This includes a passing score on the Communication and Literacy Skills test and a passing score on the relevant subject matter knowledge test(s).
• Minimum two years experience teaching in an urban public school or charter school setting
• TESL licensure or certification in a related field, required
• Fluency in Spanish, Vietnamese, Cape Verdean or Haitian Creole, preferred
• You are able to start ASAP.
