High School Special Education Teacher [SY26/27]

Neighborhood House Charter School (NHCS) is a tuition-free open enrollment charter school for grades K1-12 in Dorchester. We serve over 800 students across two campuses, predominantly from the Dorchester, Roxbury, and Mattapan neighborhoods. We focus on the social-emotional well-being of our students, and we believe a well-coached and supported educator is instrumental in helping our scholars grow academically and socially. Our expectation is that all of our students thrive, graduate from high school, and pursue post-secondary education on the path to life success.

As a Special Education Teacher, you care deeply about the success of your students and create strong relationships to support achievement in and out of the classroom. You understand each scholar’s unique learning style and support their academic growth. You will work with students with mild intellectual impairments and varied learning profiles, meeting their needs in both the substantially separate and general education classrooms through accommodations, modifications and collaboration with related service providers and other support staff.

You will work at our Centre Street campus. Hours are Monday – Friday, 7:45 a.m. – 4 p.m. A candidate with two years of prior experience and a master’s degree can expect to earn $67,500.

• You have earned a Bachelor’s degree (Master’s degree preferred)
• A passing score on the Communications & Literacy MTEL, and an MTEL in the content area(s) you teach within your first year at NHCS
• An SEI Endorsement (core academic and special education teachers only) as defined by DESE, within your first year at NHCS
• Possess a Moderate and/or Severe Disabilities MA teaching license
• Familiarity with WIDA frameworks preferred
• Knowledge of the Common Core Curriculum and MCAS Alternate Assessments
• Two years teaching experience preferred
• Commitment to cultivating anti-racist, culturally responsive and restorative practices
