Job Summary
Responsible for providing comprehensive reading instruction and intervention to students, including screening, assessment, and case management, while adhering to company and state regulations. The Reading Specialist will also serve as a coach and mentor to teachers, providing expertise in literacy instruction, particularly for students with disabilities.
SalarySalary Range: $56,475 - $73,396
Responsibilities- Coaching and mentoring:
Provide coaching and support to teachers in implementing effective literacy instruction tailored to the needs of students with disabilities. - Modeling instruction:
Demonstrate effective teaching strategies in the classroom and model best practices for literacy instruction. - Professional development:
Lead workshops, training sessions, and other professional development opportunities focused on literacy education and special education practices. - Collaborative planning:
Work with teachers to plan and implement literacy instruction that aligns with students' IEP goals. - Data‑driven instruction:
Use assessment data to guide instructional decisions and help teachers refine their literacy instruction to better meet the needs of students. - Resource development:
Develop or recommend instructional materials and resources that support literacy development for students with special needs. - Monitoring progress:
Help teachers monitor student progress in literacy and adjust interventions as necessary to ensure student growth.
- Education:
Master’s Degree in Education, Reading, or a related field with a MA Reading Specialist license. - Experience:
Several years of teaching experience, particularly in literacy or special education, and experience working with students with disabilities. - Leadership:
Previous experience in a coaching, mentoring, or leadership role within an educational setting is preferred.
