The Pittsfield Public School District is seeking a candidate for the position of Special Education Family Liaison.

This is a non-bargaining grant-funded position. The position is up to 19 hours per week.

• -Plan, organize and execute the responsibilities pertaining to special education family engagement
• -Establish long-range and immediate objectives and strategies for special education family engagement
• -Coordinate and assist in facilitation of the Special Education Parent Advisory Council
• -Conducts direct training of parents, professionals, organizations and others and facilitates and presents information to special education
• -Provides information to parents, guardians and families with respect to support services available within the district and community
• -Link families with referrals to support services within the school system and the community
• -Perform other related duties as assigned

  Skills and Experience:
  
  -Experience working as an advocate for children and parents
  -Working knowledge of special education law, policies and practices
  -Excellent communication and organizational skills
  -Strong public speaking and presentation skills
  -Self-motivated leader who can work independently and as part of a team
  -Strong interpersonal skills
  -Knowledge of family engagement research and literature
  -Understands and respects the diversity of families' economic, linguistic and cultural backgrounds and situations
  -Ability to maintain confidentiality
  -Bachelor's Degree
• At least 1 year(s) of relevant experience preferred.
