Job Overview
Role:
Estimator – responsible for accurate project take‑offs and cost estimates for manufacturing and erection/field work to support sales proposals and maintain profitability.
Location:
Pittsfield, MA
Salary: $80,000–$100,000 per year (Full time)
Reporting Structure and Key Relationships- Reporting to the Estimating Manager
- Key internal partners:
Sales, Project Development, Engineering, Manufacturing, Project Management - Key external partners:
Subcontractors, Customers
- Analyze project drawings, specifications and documentation to prepare time, cost, materials and labor estimates.
- Monitor special project considerations, work with manufacturing to establish set‑up costs, and determine costs for non‑standard specifications.
- Maintain, update and create project documentation within the Sales & Estimating system.
- Communicate with Sales leads to understand deliverables, schedule and deadlines.
- Consult with clients, vendors and other departments to resolve issues and finalize estimates; collaborate with Engineers, Project Managers and Manufacturing on changes and adjustments.
- Identify, communicate and clarify project risks.
- Attend and prepare documentation for turnover meetings and pre‑bid efforts; complete estimator’s checklist and review bid documents.
- Prepare scope summary sheets, estimate spreadsheets and review subcontractor quotations.
- Perform sales drawing activities and use CAD/REVIT for business development.
- Prepare conceptual, value‑engineered and final budget estimates; download files from FTP sites as needed.
- Collaborate with Sales Managers to support overall Sales Initiative.
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience in estimating, 3D drawing or construction design.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and REVIT; capable of accurate take‑offs and creating sales drawings.
- Proficiency with MS Office:
Outlook, Word, Excel, Project. - Strong documentation, organization and computer skills; experience with SharePoint and FTP downloads.
- Strong math skills for volume, rebar quantity and weight calculations.
- Excellent communication skills; ability to work with customers, subcontractors and internal teams.
- Experience in precast/prestressed concrete industry highly preferred; on‑site construction experience a plus.
- Ability to adapt to change, manage multiple projects and deliver on time.
- Commitment to safety, quality and accountability.
