Position Description
Unistress Corporation is seeking an Estimator to complete accurate project take‑offs and prepare cost estimates for manufacturing and erection/field work on projects, ensuring accurate proposals and profitability.
Responsibilities- Analyze project drawings, job specifications and other documentation to prepare time, cost, materials and labor estimates supporting the sales process.
- Monitor special considerations for the project, working with manufacturing to establish set‑up costs and determining the cost of any non‑standard specifications.
- Maintain, update and create project documentation within the Sales & Estimating system.
- Communicate with sales leads to understand project deliverables, schedules and deadlines.
- Consult with clients, vendors and personnel in other departments to discuss and formulate estimates, resolving issues and preparing estimates for use.
- Coordinate with Engineers, Project Managers or Manufacturing on cost estimates adjustments and provide estimates for management planning, organizing and scheduling.
- Identify, communicate and clarify project risks.
- Attend and prepare all necessary documentation for turnover meetings and pre‑bid efforts.
- Complete the estimator’s checklist and review all bid documents.
- Prepare scope summary sheets, estimate spreadsheets and review subcontractor quotations.
- Perform sales drawing activities to support business development, using both CAD and REVIT.
- Prepare conceptual, value‑engineered and final budget estimates, interpreting drawings for precast needs.
- Download files from FTP sites for use by Sales, Development and Estimating teams.
- Team with Sales Managers to support the overall company "Sales Initiative".
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience in estimating, 3D drawing or construction design.
- Ability to read and create drawings in AutoCAD and REVIT.
- Experience performing accurate take‑offs from customer documents and creating sales drawings.
- Proficiency with MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, Project).
- Strong documentation and organizational skills.
- Knowledge of computer file and drive structures such as SharePoint.
- Experience downloading files from multiple sources (FTP) and categorizing them efficiently.
- Strong math skills for calculating volumes of irregular shapes, rebar quantities and weights.
- Ability to translate take‑off data into accurate estimates that reflect true costs.
- Demonstrated adaptability to change and emerging trends.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, for interacting with customers, subcontractors and internal teams.
- Precast/pre‑stressed concrete industry experience preferred.
- On‑site construction experience a plus.
- Builds trust and respect; collaborative, approachable and a good listener.
