Position Overview
Location:
Pittsfield, MA | Pay Range: $80,000 – $100,000 | Full time
Reports to Estimating Manager. Works closely with Sales, Project Development, Engineering, Manufacturing, and Project Management teams. Internal partners include Sales, Project Development, Engineering, Manufacturing, and Project Management; external partners include Subcontractors and Customers.
Responsibilities- Analyze project drawings, specifications, and other documentation to produce time, cost, material, and labor estimates supporting the sales process.
- Monitor special project considerations, collaborate with manufacturing on set‑up costs, and determine costs of any non‑standard specifications.
- Maintain, update, and create project documentation within the Sales & Estimating system.
- Communicate with Sales leads to understand deliverables, schedule, and deadlines.
- Consult with clients, vendors, and departments to formulate estimates and resolve related issues; prepare estimates for use by management.
- Identify, communicate, and clarify project risks.
- Attend and prepare documents for turnover meetings and pre‑bid efforts.
- Complete the estimator’s checklist, review bid documents, prepare scope summary sheets, and the estimate spreadsheet.
- Review subcontractor quotations.
- Prepare sales drawings in CAD or Revit to support business development.
- Create conceptual, value‑engineered, and final budget estimates; interpret drawings for precast needs.
- Download project files from FTP sites for use by Sales, Development, and Estimating teams.
- Collaborate with Sales Managers to support overall company Sales Initiative.
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience in estimating, 3D drawing, or construction design.
- Proficiency reading and creating drawings in AutoCAD and Revit; perform accurate take‑offs and sales drawings.
- Strong knowledge of MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, Project).
- Excellent documentation and organization skills; familiarity with SharePoint and file structures.
- Ability to download and organize files from FTP sites.
- Strong math skills for volume, rebar quantity, and weight calculations.
- Ability to understand take‑off requirements and ensure estimates are accurate, comprehensive, and cost‑effective.
- Adaptability to change and emerging trends.
- Effective communication with customers, subcontractors, and internal teams.
- Experience in precast/prestressed concrete industry preferred; on‑site construction experience a plus.
- Builds trust and respect; collaborative and approachable.
- Communicates and acts with honesty and transparency.
