We are seeking an experienced Senior Systems Engineer 3 to lead complex systems engineering efforts with a strong emphasis on personal and environmental safety. The ideal candidate will bring deep technical expertise, safety engineering knowledge, and a proven ability to deliver innovative, safety-compliant solutions in support of mission-critical defense programs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead systems engineering activities with a focus on safety requirements, hazard analysis, and risk mitigation across the full system lifecycle
- Develop and maintain Safety Management Plans, hazard analyses, and environmental impact assessments
- Ensure compliance with DoD safety standards and regulations
- Integrate personal and environmental safety requirements into system architectures and designs
- Conduct and support Safety Reviews, including Preliminary Hazard Analysis (PHA) and System Safety Working Groups (SSWG)
- Collaborate with environmental, health, and safety (EHS) teams to ensure regulatory compliance
- Mentor junior engineers on safety engineering best practices
- Support proposals, design reviews, and customer interactions related to safety requirements
Qualifications:
- Education:
Bachelor's degree in Systems Engineering, Safety Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or related field - Experience:
2+ years of relevant systems engineering experience, with demonstrated focus on safety engineering - Clearance:
Active Secret or Top Secret clearance preferred - Candidate must be local to the area and able to work onsite in the Pittsfield, MA office. Some telecommuting is allowed up to 2 days a week.

- Requirements management tools (DOORS, Jama)
- Knowledge of OSHA, EPA, and DoD safety regulations
