Position Summary

The Snow making Supervisor manages all snow making operations, personnel, and equipment to provide adequate snow coverage for skiing and snowboarding activities. This position oversees snow making crews, monitors weather conditions,maintains equipment, and ensures all operations are conducted safely and efficiently while supporting the resort's operational goals.

Operational Management
  • Plan, coordinate, and supervise all snow making activities.
  • Monitor weather forecasts, temperatures, humidity, and operational conditions todeterminesnowmaking opportunities.
  • Direct startup, operation, and shutdown of snow making systems.
  • Prioritize trail and terrain coverage based on resort needs and business objectives.
  • Maintain snow making logs, production records, and operational reports.
Staff Supervision
  • Hire, train, schedule, and supervise snow making personnel.
  • Lead and motivate crews during day and night operations.
  • Conduct performance evaluations and provide ongoing coaching.
  • Ensure staff compliance with company policies and safety procedures.
  • Manage employee scheduling tomaintainadequate staffing levels.
Equipment and Maintenance
  • Oversee the operation and maintenance of snow guns, pumps, compressors, hydrants, pipelines, and related equipment.
  • Coordinate preventative maintenance and repairs.
  • Inspect equipment regularly to ensureoptimalperformance.
  • Work closely with maintenance staff and outside vendors as needed.
  • Manage inventory of parts, supplies, and maintenance materials.
Safety and Compliance
  • Enforce all OSHA regulations and company safety policies.
  • Conduct safety meetings and training sessions.
  • Ensure proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Investigate incidents and implement corrective actions.
  • Maintain compliance with environmental permits and regulations.
Budget and Resource Management
  • Work with Mountain Manager tomonitorlabor, water, and energy usage.
  • Manage operational costs whilemaintainingquality standards.
  • Recommend equipment upgrades and efficiency improvements.
Coordination and Communication
  • Collaborate with grooming, lift operations, ski patrol, and maintenance departments.
  • Communicate operational status and snow making progress to management.
  • Assist with opening and closing procedures for the ski season.
  • Participate in emergency response activities when required.
Qualifications Required
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 3years of snow making experience, including leadership responsibilities.
  • Strong understanding of snow making systems and equipment.
  • Mechanical and troubleshooting skills.
  • Excellent communication and organizational abilities.
  • Computer proficiency, including operational tracking systems.
  • Ability to make quick decisions under changing weather conditions.
  • Budgeting and resource management skills.
  • Mustpossessand maintain a valid driver’s licenseandalways meet company insurability requirements.
Preferred
  • Associate or bachelor’sdegree in a related field.
  • Previous supervisory or management experience at a ski resort.
  • Knowledge of automated snow making systems.
  • Electrical, plumbing, or mechanical certifications.
  • First Aid/CPR certification.
