DEFINITION/PRIMARY FUNCTIONSProvides supervision of the daily operations on the assigned units. Acts on behalf of the organization, providing supervision for staff members. Participates in the hiring process and disciplinary action as necessary. Demonstrates knowledge of and assures compliance with accrediting/regulatory agency standards, hospital and departmental policies and procedures and customer service standards.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS(Minimum qualifications are required unless stated otherwise.)
Experience- Three years of unit specific experience required.
- Teaching experience preferred.
- Minimium 2 years current experience in nephrology nursing practice, including charge nurse experience.
- Leadership experience required.
- Experience with electronic medical record and clinical documentation systems required.
- RN required.
- BSN required, MSN preferred.
- Knowledge of software applications (Outlook, Microsoft) required.
- Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing BSN preferred.
- RN License
- Currently licensed as an RN in Massachusetts.
- Maintain professionalism and act as role model.
- Demonstrates leadership and communicates a strong work ethic and commitment toward service excellence.
- Excellent interpersonal skills; communicates effectively with patients, family members, physicians, senior leadership and staff.
- Well organized and able to prioritize a variety of complex assignments simultaneously. Meets deadlines in a timely manner.
- Demonstrates understanding of local, state and federal regulating agencies (DCF, DPH, TJC).
- Demonstrates dependability and transparency.
- Documented effectiveness in confronting problems and resolving conflict.
- Demonstrates the ability to educate staff and patients.
- Demonstrates ability in independent critical thinking, team building, and clinical decision making.
- Demonstrates organizational skills in the daily routine of the dialysis unit in maintaining patient schedules.
- Demonstrates the ability to function as a liaison between staff and department director.
- Demonstrates the ability to manage systems operations in the absence of the department director.
- Demonstrates energy and enthusiasm required to function as a (change agent).
- Demonstrates leadership ability in high stress situations.
- Demonstrates accuracy in work functions and information content.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Demonstrates mature reasoning and professional philosophy.
- Demonstrated activity as a professional role model.
- Ability to interface with family and patients with positive outcomes.
- Ability to work in a Team Approach environment.
- Demonstrates participation in activities that support the hospital's mission and goals for outstanding patient care.
The minimum and maximum of the hourly pay range for this position is shown above. Actual rates of pay may vary based on a range of factors including but not limited to experience and qualifications.
