NICU is a continuing care nursery that provides the latest technology and care for newborns. The American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) categorizes hospitals into four levels of neonatal care based on the service and care they provide. A Level 1B NICU is a specialized department within a hospital that provides extra care for late preterm babies (35 weeks and beyond) and those with health issues
. These nurseries are equipped with the latest technology to meet the needs of these babies, including:
- Cardiopulmonary monitors
- LED phototherapy lights
- Radiant warming units
- Resuscitation and stabilization care centers
- IV infusion pumps
- Isolettes
- Donor milk
- Oxygen therapy
