Process member purchases in a courteous and friendly manner—verifying, renewing, upgrading, and offering various membership products; scanning merchandise; and accepting multiple forms of payment. Provide excellent member service efficiently and productively while maintaining the cleanliness of the front‑line department.

The role requires a clear understanding of all BJ’s Membership options, renewals, upgrades, loyalty programs, and rewards redemption.

Responsibilities include:

• Delivering high‑level customer service to members
• Checking members out promptly and accurately
• Scanning all club merchandise to ensure accurate inventory counts and purchase totals
• Assisting with filling shopping carts and operating self‑checkout stations
• Collecting payments via cash, check or other charge payments and issuing receipts or change
• Staying current on product promotions, advertisements, and information
• Scanning and redeeming coupons to discount purchases
• Maintaining cleanliness of the front‑line area and assisting with general club housekeeping when necessary
• Returning resellable merchandise to the sales floor
• Managing self‑checkout and scan‑and‑pan lanes, assisting members with operational and technical difficulties, and meeting cashier productivity expectations
• Adhering to all club policies and procedures and performing other duties as assigned, including working in other departments as needed
• Ensuring regular, predictable, full attendance—an essential function of this job

• Basic math skills (preferred)
• Prior cashier or sales experience (preferred)

The position involves frequent movement on hard surfaces, occasional need to lift or move objects up to 30 pounds and sometimes heavier items with assistance. Work is in a comfortable indoor environment with infrequent exposure to temperature extremes and loud noises. Cleaning agents may be encountered occasionally.

The pay range for this position is $16.25 – $19.50, based on a good‑faith estimate that may vary by location, education, experience and qualifications.
