The HVAC Technician is responsible for operating, inspecting, repairing, and maintaining all Heating Ventilation and Air-Conditioning (HVAC) and refrigeration equipment and distribution systems. Ensures safe, reliable, and efficient operation through preventive maintenance. Respond to service requests. Maintain space air pressure relationships, temperature, and humidity in accordance with the American Society of Heating, Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE) and Facility Guidelines Institute (FGI) guidelines.

Maintain Environment of Care documentation, for HVAC systems, as required by The Joint Commission. Utilizes the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) to develop and execute preventive maintenance tasks as defined by the manufacturer or approved alternate maintenance procedures at scheduled frequencies. Performs corrective maintenance and responds to various service requests in a professional manner with appropriate urgency to minimize downtime and provide optimal patient experience.

REQUIREMENTS
  • Experience:

    Three years of technical experience in all aspects of building engineering with a strong background in the technical aspects of HVAC/R, plumbing, electrical, production equipment repair, and maintenance.
  • Education:

    High School diploma or GED equivalent. Associates degree in Engineering, Energy Transfer Systems or equivalent preferred.
  • Licensure &

    Certifications:

    HVAC - Certificate of Completion in Heating/Ventilation/Air Conditioning Program, Driver - Driver’s license, UCFC - Universal CFC recovery certification (or within 90 days of employment)
SKILLS & ABILITIES
  • Ability to work independently and take initiative
  • Good judgment and problem-solving skills
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills
  • Ability to lift heavy objects and work from heights with equipment such as ladders and or staging.
  • Working knowledge of pneumatic and DDC controls. Understanding of HVAC Controls and Building Automation Systems.
  • Working knowledge of the refrigeration cycle and heating cycle.
  • Must be able to troubleshoot advanced electrical circuits.
  • Knowledge of all types of HVAC systems and how each component within the system operates.
