JOB OVERVIEW

The Lead Carpenter is responsible for overseeing the construction and installation of sets in the theatre. This role involves interpreting set designs, supervising a team of carpenters to ensure that all construction is completed to the highest standards. This position requires a driven individual with strong leadership skills and extensive knowledge of theatrical set construction and management.

REQUIREMENTS
  • Oversee the construction and installation of sets in the theatre.
  • Interpret set designs and supervise a team of carpenters to ensure all construction is completed to the highest standards.
  • Manage project timelines, ensure safety protocols are followed, and maintain quality control.
  • Coordinate with the Assistant Technical Directors during load-ins and load-outs.
  • Enforce safety measures to protect all team members.
  • Other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Strong leadership, communication, organizational, and time management skills.
  • Extensive knowledge of theatrical set construction and management.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting set designs and blueprints.
  • Experience with various carpentry tools and techniques.
  • Knowledge of safety protocols and best practices.
  • Ability to manage and motivate a team.
  • Must be comfortable working with students and volunteers.
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs and work comfortably at heights.
  • Reliable transportation and/or a valid driver's license is preferred
  • Ability to drive a 26' box truck is preferred
