Job Opportunities
Under the direction of Buildings & Facilities Supervisor, coordinate, execute, maintain, repair and install all types of plumbing equipment, domestic water systems, sewer systems, and related devices. Perform preventative maintenance (PM) programs, inspections and repairs; respond to emergency plumbing calls and maintain and repair all-natural gas services including valves. Work from building plans, blueprints and sketches. Plan and lay out the routing, placement, slant, slope, fall and proper operation of systems and equipment.
Locate and tap main lines. Place hanger for proper level and slope. Install valves, traps, and unions needed for proper operation of systems. Repair and/or install plumbing fixtures, supplies, vents, and drains, etc. Install and/or repair copper, galvanized, black iron and cast‑iron pipes. Repair and/or install mixing valves, temperature regulating valves, flush valves, etc. Clean clogged waste lines. Measure, cut, thread and install pipe in new and existing steam, water air and vacuum lines.
Repair and/or install water, steam, and condensate lines; hot water heater, valves, traps and radiators. Repair pipes by soldering and threading. Installing, operating and modifying various supply, disposal and utility systems and equipment such as water, gas, sprinklers, hot water tanks, toilets, urinals, water coolers, etc. Winterize facilities (i.e. stadiums).
High school diploma, completion of G.E.D. or equivalent vocational school or short-term courses resulting in Master Plumbers License. Five or more years of experience in related trade experience as maintenance and repair technician preferably in a public sector. Current Master Plumber and Master Gas Fitter license from the Commonwealth of Massachusetts Board of State Examiners. Commonwealth of Massachusetts Driver’s License – Class
D.
Certified in Plumbing Design desired. Certification in Welding, Mega‑press and or Pro‑press desired. Backflow Prevention Certification preferred.
