Line Mechanic - Qualified; Pittsfield, MA

Position

This is a fully qualified line mechanic opening – location – Pittsfield, MA.

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Pass the CAST test.
• Possess a valid driver’s license and obtain/maintain a Commercial Driver’s License (CDL).
• Perform work assignments at the Line Mechanic level, including transmission work and emergency response, and planned overtime when needed.
• Acquire a basic knowledge of the Company Safety Manual.
• Use hand and power tools and equipment pertinent to line construction and maintenance.
• Climb and work on poles, ladders, and other elevated structures.
• Live within 30 minutes of the reporting location.
• Meet the physical requirements as specified by medical placement examination(s).
• Work a four‑ten‑hour day schedule and be a shift worker with Saturday as a work day.
• Qualified Local 455 WMECO employees will be given first consideration.

Work both indoors and outdoors, sometimes under adverse weather conditions. May be required to respond to emergencies, work overtime, and participate in planned maintenance.

The salary range for this position starts at Step $59.78 and progresses in accordance with the union contract. This is a Union position.

Responding to emergency situations to meet customers’ needs is part of every employee’s role. If employed, you will be given an Emergency Restoration assignment, which may require assistance outside of normal responsibilities, work hours, and location.
