Salary: $18.50-$20.50/hour

Are you looking for rewarding work with individuals with disabilities? UCP, a growing human services agency, works with people with disabilities in their homes and in the community. In this role, you will work with contracted UCP members with physical or developmental disabilities in northern Berkshire County. You will help these members live a "life without limits" by assisting or supervising in a variety of daily living activities.

For example, you may assist or supervise a member in household chores, menu planning, and grocery shopping. You will explore community integration, such as seasonal events, hobbies and interests. Your work is done in accordance with a therapeutic goal in the member's service plan and in compliance with the rules and regulations stated in the DDS Provider Manual.

• Address individual’s needs by the goal and objectives within Individualized Service Plan (ISP).
• Teach positive interactions and social skills.
• Respond to member concerns and requests.
• Act as member advocate and guard all member rights.
• Facilitate and coordinate appointments (medical, dental, mental health, etc.) in conjunction with the Supported Living (SL) House Manager.
• Record and report changes in the member’s physical condition, behavior or appearance to the SL House Manager.
• Perform light housekeeping tasks that are incidental to the care and supervision of the individual.

• At least 18 years old with a high school diploma or equivalent.
• Two or more years experience working with individuals with disabilities.
• Cultural competency with service population.
• Strong organizational and time management skills, including the ability to work independently and be self‑motivated and follow through on tasks and meet deadlines.
• Appropriate oral and written communication skills to effectively communicate with members, caregivers and other parties.
• Detail oriented.
• Ability to work flexible hours when needed in order to accommodate the needs of members.
• Ability to walk, climb stairs and lift and carry up to 10 lbs.
• Ability to safely perform physical intervention techniques in the event of an emergency as trained in Proactive Approaches to Behavioral Challenges (PABC).
• Basic computer proficiency with Microsoft products to enter case notes; communicate by e‑mail, input data and learn new systems and software.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.
• Valid driver’s license, safe driving record, availability of a private vehicle, and current insurance.
• Have certification in CPR/First Aid or ability to be certified.
• CORI, SORI, DPPC, and National Fingerprint Check.
