Blood Donor Center Driver; Per Diem

Overview

Purpose of Position: Provide transportation and donor services to support blood center efforts.

• Inspects vehicles and documents as mandated by CCHC policies, and applicable federal, state and local laws and regulations and maintains required DOT documentation.
• Maintains bloodmobile including the cleanliness of vehicle interior and exterior for scheduled blood drives.
• Conforms to federal, state, and local drug and alcohol screening laws and regulations.
• Drives company vehicles to transport (including loading and unloading) supplies and equipment, to and from blood drive sites. Assists with the setup equipment at beginning of drive and breakdown equipment at the end of the drive.
• Performs donor registrations. Accurately records and enters data in computer system and performs other clerical functions.
• Ensures the satisfaction of all users of the department's services, internal and external according to the hospital’s customer service standards.
• Assists with filtering blood and packs units in transport cooler for courier pickup.
• Maintains work areas in a clean, sanitary and free of clutter condition for the safety of donors, guests and staff.
• Maintains a thorough knowledge of departmental and Hospital policies and procedures.
• Reports any vehicle accident, vehicle damage, inoperative or inoperable vehicle equipment to Supervisor immediately.
• Informs Supervisor of any motor vehicle infractions, change in driver’s license status, and/or change in ability to drive the blood mobile.
• Consistently provides service excellence to all donors, patients, family members, visitors, volunteers and co-workers.
• Performs other work-related duties and activities as assigned.

• Ability to read, write and effectively communicate in English.
• Proficient in using a computer and laptop.
• High School Diploma or G.E.D. required.
• Course in medical terminology preferred.
• Current valid Massachusetts and Commercial Drivers License (CDL), Class B with an Air Brake Endorsement required.
• Prior commercial driving experience preferred.
• Current medical exam certificate as required by CDL/DOT regulations, including valid DOT drug and alcohol screenings and agree to undergo a pre-employment physical exam and drug and alcohol screening.
• Driving record is free from conviction, moving violations and at-fault "points" for four years prior to date of hire, and during employment.
• Obtain Basic Life Support Certificate within thirty (30) days of hire.

Per Diem Hrs, Rotating Days/Eves, 6a-2p, 7a-3p, 8a-4p, 9a-5p, 10a-6p, 11a-7p, Rot. Weekends & Occ. Holidays.
