The
* Underwriting Associate
* plays a key role in supporting the underwriting team by helping evaluate risk, review policy information, and ensure the smooth processing of new business and renewals. This entry level position is designed for individuals who are analytical, detail oriented, and eager to build a foundation in commercial insurance underwriting. In this role, you'll gather and analyze applicant information, verify documentation, and prepare files that enable underwriters to make informed decisions.
You'll work closely with brokers, agents, and internal teams to maintain efficient submission flow and
deliver an exceptional customer experience. With handson exposure to underwriting guidelines, rating tools, and policy forms, this position offers a strong pathway toward a full underwriting career.
* Key Responsibilities
* * Assist underwriters in reviewing applications, financial documents, and risk related information.
* Conduct preliminary risk assessments and confirm submissions meet underwriting guidelines.
* Prepare and organize documentation, maintain accurate records, and process endorsements or policy changes.
* Communicate with brokers, agents, and internal teams to obtain missing or additional information.
* Use underwriting systems and rating tools to input data, generate quotes, and support decision making.
* Perform basic analysis and research to assist with underwriting evaluations.
* Track submissions, follow up on outstanding items, and help manage renewal timelines.
* Contribute to a positive customer experience through timely, professional communication.
* Skills & Qualifications
* * Strong analytical skills with the ability to assess risk and identify patterns.
* Recent Graduates or 2-3 years of related experience are highly desired (Bachelor's Degree is Required)
* Sound judgment when navigating unique or ambiguous underwriting scenarios.
* Effective interpersonal skills for collaborating with internal teams and external partners.
* Familiarity with risk evaluation across insurance products such as Workers' Compensation, Commercial Auto, and Professional Liability.
* Experience or aptitude for policy review, processing, and working within internal systems.
* High attention to detail, especially in documentation and compliance.
* Foundational knowledge of insurance regulations and underwriting guidelines (or willingness to learn).
