Ship Monk isn't just a 3PL — we're the tech-powered growth partner for ecommerce brands, running 12+ owned fulfillment centers across the US, Canada, the UK, and Europe so our merchants can stress less and grow more.

Operations Manager - Inventory/Training/Quality

In this role you will be responsible for supporting Ship Monk’s quality and training programs, working hands‑on with key stakeholders to drive process excellence, continuous improvement initiatives, and successful site‑launch efforts. Core focus areas will include analyzing data to identify root cause and driving continuous improvement projects. You will work collaboratively with Operations, HR, and other teams to evaluate, create, improve, and drive new quality and training processes and systems.

A successful candidate will have broad, hands‑on experience in operations environments, training execution, analytical skills, and a strong track record of improving operational performance metrics, particularly those related to safety, quality, and productivity.

To achieve this, Operations Managers must be creative problem solvers who are able to think outside the box, interpret and act upon data, deliver effective feedback at all levels, and achieve quantifiable business results that drive productivity and efficiency gains.

What you'll do:
  • Create and maintain a safe work environment for all Associates and Leaders
  • Relentlessly drive and support continuous improvement efforts across the network
  • Collaborate with key stakeholders to identify opportunities in related processes, operations performance levels, and knowledge management practices
  • Leverage both quantitative and qualitative inputs to identify opportunities for continuous improvement.
  • Ensure the standard processes and quality assurance measures are in place and being adhered to across the network.
  • Act as the primary information source for the team, maintaining compliance and consistency, and taking corrective action when needed
  • Mentor, train, and develop teammates for career progression, performance improvement, and recognition purposes
  • Support and lead the creation of high-impact training materials and/or processes.
  • Operations Managers create, communicate and maintain quality control policies and continuous improvement initiatives across the team(s), shifts, and fulfillment centers
  • Constantly review and action performance data with your Supervisors, ensuring adherence to, or exceeding operational goals (weekly, daily, hourly)
  • Partner with other managers to share best practices across shifts and the network
What you'll need:
  • Bachelor's degree highly preferred
  • 2-3 years previous supervisory experience required, preferable within e-commerce, warehousing/distribution industries
  • 1-2 years management experience preferred (refers to salaried and degreed direct-reports, or equivalent)
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, high-growth, and rapidly-changing operations environment
  • Operational experience and knowledge across two or more functional areas of e-commerce, warehousing/distribution, or 3PL operation (i.e. Outbound, Inbound, Inventory, Value-add Services (VAS))
  • Ability to manage, motivate, direct, lead, train and develop other leaders and team members
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills; capable to work with operations leaders to understand Ship Monk processes and translate required outcomes to training materials.
  • Ability to clearly define, analyze, summarize, and communicate business results.
  • Strong technical and analytical skills, with moderate to advanced capabilities in applications such as MS Excel, Google Sheets, Tableau, ERP/WMS/TMS, etc.
