JOB SUMMARYElectrical and Controls Technician – This is a shift role (AWW – 12 hour, Night shift) focused on manufacturing, industrial, controls and automation. The primary purpose of this position is to drive out electrical and control losses throughout the organization on a shift schedule. This role requires you to work AWW 12 hour Night shift. Possible future roles include 12 hour dayshift and other dayshift type roles.
Depends on the needs of the business.
- Provide electrical and controls support for a 24/7, manufacturing operation working a 12 hour AWW night shift. There are opportunities for 12 hour dayshift and 8 hour dayshift schedule based on skill and responsibilities.
- Has basic electrical knowledge and can work safely around electrical panels.
- Has the ability to learn and understand industrial electrical systems.
- Ability to read and understand electrical prints, use basic electrical tools and meters.
- Ability to learn all aspects of the electrical equipment, controls and process throughout the plant. This includes can lines, bottle lines, conveyors, wrappers, palletizers, batch systems, brewing, mixers, etc.
- Ability to learn how to troubleshoot all electrical and controls equipment (PLCs, drives, HMIs, optics, sensors, detection systems, safety systems, networking, PCs, etc).
- Can learn and troubleshoot PLC programming (RS Logix 500 and 5000).
- Can learn and troubleshoot sensors (prox, optics, level, flow, temp, etc).
- Can perform basic electrical wiring (terminations, connectors, etc).
- Be able to work a flexible work arrangement (working dayshift, sometimes night shift, call-ins, etc).
- Communicate with leadership and maintenance personnel on clear problem statements and determine next steps on troubleshooting efforts. Partner with supervisors and Line leader in resolution of daily issues.
- Lead troubleshooting events and develop problem statements with other plant personnel to help determine next steps to resolution.
Education:
- High School Diploma, or equivalent
Required:
- Highly motivated and self-taught. Ability to learn new and complex electrical systems
Preferred:
- Associates Degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, or Controls or some basic manufacturing experience
Experience:
Required:
- Reliable employee, eager to learn and advance their skills
- Ability to learn complex electrical systems
- Highly motivated
Preferred:
- 1-10 years of experience in industrial controls equipment
- Sensor experience (level probes, temp sensors, conductivity sensors, limit switches, selector switches, etc)
- Electrical Safety training or experience (example: the NFPA 70E standards)
Physical Demands:
Light - Exert up to 40 lbs. of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 lbs. of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. Physical demands are in excess of those of Sedentary work. Light work usually requires walking or standing to a significant degree.

Thinking, concentrating, problem solving, learning, ability to interact, active listening, and/or working under stressful conditions, etc.
