Thermoforming Supervisor
Manufacturing Production manages or assists with managing various production activities (e.g., assembly, material forming/shaping, processing, treating, or packaging, etc.) including:
Planning, directing, and monitoring production to meet established specifications, schedules, volume/cost/wastage targets, and quality standards. Liaising with Manufacturing Engineering, Supply & Logistics, Sales, etc. as input to developing production schedules and allocating labor/capital resources. Planning, prioritizing, and managing production line maintenance/downtime to minimize disruptions.
A Thermoforming Supervisor oversees the day-to-day operations of thermoforming production, ensuring efficient, safe, and high-quality output while managing a team of operators and technicians.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities- Team Leadership & Supervision
:
Manage all employees in the thermoforming department or shift, including performance management, coaching, and development. - Production Planning & Scheduling
:
Assign work, schedule forming machines, adjust schedules as needed, and manage shift priorities. - Quality & Process Control
:
Perform tool changes, adjust forming parameters, and ensure parts meet quality standards. Implement and maintain quality control procedures. - Safety & Compliance
:
Enforce safety regulations, conduct accident investigations, and promote a safe working environment. - Performance Management
:
Monitor departmental performance measures, track absenteeism, and provide regular progress reports to management. - Maintenance & Equipment
:
Coordinate maintenance activities, troubleshoot machine issues, and ensure equipment is in safe operating condition. - Inventory & Materials
:
Maintain proper inventory levels and ensure orders are followed. - Continuous Improvement
:
Recommend and implement improvements in production methods, equipment, and working conditions.
- Education
:
High school diploma or GED; mechanical, plastic, or related engineering background preferred. - Experience
: 3–5+ years in thermoforming or related manufacturing roles. - Technical Knowledge
:
Proficiency with thermoforming machines, tooling, and forming processes. - Leadership
:
Strong leadership, communication, and problem‑solving skills. - Analytical Skills
:
Ability to identify and resolve process inefficiencies. - Physical Requirements
:
Ability to lift to 80 lbs., stand, walk, and operate machinery in a noisy, vibrating environment.
- Location
:
Manufacturing plant, often in a plastics or packaging industry. - Hours
:
Typically full‑time, 40 hours/week, with possible evening or weekend work. - Schedule
:
Tuesday – Saturday, third shift 11pm‑7am. - Conditions
:
Exposure to fumes, airborne particles, moving mechanical parts, and loud noise.
