Position Overview
Performing a wide range of general laboring duties including but not limited to shoveling, raking, traffic control, moving materials, setting forms, stripping and cleaning concrete forms, pouring concrete, shoveling, vibrating, and maintaining good housekeeping while following safety regulations.
Key Responsibilities (Essential Duties And Functions)- Adhere to and follow all safety rules and regulations of MSHA/OSHA/DOT and Pennsy Supply, Inc.
- Conduct daily safety assignments (area inspections, pre-shifts, JSA's, TRACK, etc.).
- Signal operators of construction equipment to facilitate alignment and movement.
- Shovel, rake, spread, and level earth, aggregates, and hot asphalt mix to fine grade specifications.
- Load, unload, and carry tools, equipment, and materials.
- Develop all skills required to perform as a member of the laborer crew under the direction of the foreman.
- Receive instruction, observe, and assist the foreman and laborer crew.
- Work with the labor crew and foreman in reading roadway plans and standard drawings, using and caring for all hand and power tools, constructing and assembling concrete forms, load transfer units, handling and placement of reinforcement steel, placement, finishing, and curing of concrete.
- Perform other related duties as directed by the foreman.
- Review general understanding and use of all hand and power tools to be used on projects.
- Instruction, demonstration, and care of all equipment.
- Report to the assigned job site ready to begin work at the designated start time.
- Willingness to work in a team environment and assist co-workers or supervisors with other duties as required.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Must submit to a drug screen and criminal background check.
- A current driver’s license and reliable source of transportation.
- Able to work various times during day, night, or weekend hours, at various locations.
- High school Diploma or GED equivalent.
- 1‑3 years of labor or construction experience preferred.
