Prime, Inc. – Tire Repair Associate
Prime, Inc. is looking for a hard‑working, self‑motivated individual to repair damaged tires of trucks and examine defective tires and tubes returned by drivers to determine the allowance due on replacement. This is an overnight position.
ScheduleSunday–Wednesday 6 pm–6 am and Wednesday–Saturday 6 pm–6 am, with every other Wednesday off.
Responsibilities- Visually and tactilely examine tires to determine if defects resulted from faulty construction or curing.
- Raise the vehicle with a hydraulic jack and unbolt the wheel with a lug wrench.
- Locate punctures in tubeless tires by inserting adhesive material and expanding a rubber plug into the puncture.
- Separate tubed tires from wheels with a rubber mallet and metal bar or mechanical tire changer.
- Remove inner tubes and inspect tire casings for defects such as holes and tears.
- Glue boots over ruptures in tire casings.
- Buff defective areas of inner tubes, use a scraper, and patch tubes with adhesive rubber patches or seal patches to tubes with a hot vulcanizing plate.
- Measure tread depth to determine remaining tire life.
- Reassemble tires onto wheels and place wheels on a balancing machine to determine counterweights required.
- Hammer required counterweights onto the rim of the wheel.
- Cleave tire sides and remount onto the vehicle.
- Prorate allowances based on tread wear, warranty provisions, and tire characteristics knowledge.
- Explain the basis for allowance to drivers or distributors.
- Perform related work as required.
- High‑school diploma, GED, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Prior tire experience is a plus.
- Strong work history and flexible schedule with ability to work nights and weekends.
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record and reliable transportation.
Constant standing, handling, and forward reaching; frequent walking, head turning, bending, kneeling, stooping, squatting; hand control and power gripping. Ability to lift 105 lbs, carry 83 lbs, and push/pull 115 lbs. Steel‑toed footwear and safety glasses are required. Work occurs both indoor and outdoor with exposure to varying weather conditions and chemical odors.
Safety & PPEPrime provides protective equipment (PPE) as required by OSHA regulations. Associates must adhere to all PPE policies. Failure to comply may result in disciplinary action up to termination.
Miscellaneous Requirements- Must pass a physical examination by APEX Physical Therapy (Springfield, Mo.) or a general physical examination for other locations before starting employment.
