Engine Specialist (Mechanic) – U-Haul

• Determine vehicle condition by conducting inspections and diagnostic tests; identify worn and damaged parts.
• Overhaul and repair engines or motors; disassemble engines, repair or replace defective parts, reassemble engines and make adjustments as needed; use oxygen‑acetylene, electro‑arc‑welding or similar equipment.
• Perform preventive maintenance, maintain and repair engines, and oil and lubricate engine and chassis.
• Install timing gears, crankshafts, bearings, cylinders, and drive systems.
• Communicate effectively and work as part of a team.
• Assist in additional areas as needed, following directives from supervisors.

• Valid driver’s license and the ability to maintain a good driving record to operate commercial motor vehicles.
• Adhere to all local, state (provincial) and federal vehicular regulations while driving.

The work involves moderate risks or discomforts which require special safety precautions, such as working around moving parts, machines, fumes, or chemicals. Protective clothing or gear such as masks, goggles, gloves, or shields may be required.

The work requires some physical exertion, including long periods both indoors and outdoors while remaining stationary, traversing spaces, repositioning to reach and use tools, and moving a minimum of 50 lbs. (assisted or unassisted).

Hourly: $21.5 – $23.5.
