Position:
Bilingual (English/Spanish) Child Development Classroom Assistant II – Western Slope (Placerville Main, Schnell School Campus).
Under the direction of the Head Start teacher, the Classroom Assistant II demonstrates and applies fundamental knowledge of child development to facilitate daily activities and experiences for children that support school readiness following federal, state, and COE guidelines. The role is part of the Child Development Program on a year‑round basis and includes a 5% bilingual pay differential.
Responsibilities- Support the Head Start teacher in planning and implementing age-appropriate curriculum.
- Assist with daily activities, group and one‑on‑one interactions to promote cognitive and social development.
- Set up and maintain a safe, engaging classroom environment.
- Communicate with families in both English and Spanish about child progress and classroom activities.
- Assist in documentation and record keeping per program requirements.
- Education
:
High School Diploma and Associate Teacher Permit or Associate of Arts degree in Child Development, Early Childhood Education, or related field. Must meet Title 22 licensing standards. - Experience
:
Previous successful experience in Early Care and Education Programs within the last three years preferred. - Bilingual (English/Spanish) skills required.
- Proof of ECE units (current official transcripts) and a copy of the Associate Teacher Permit if applicable.
Pay: $17.97 – $23.39 per hour; initial placement on the first step of the range.
Bilingual stipend: 5% added to base pay.
Work schedule:
8 hours per day, 5 days per week, 10 months per year. Full time.
