Position: Sheriff's Public Safety Dispatcher I

Recruitment Incentive

Up to $6,000 will be paid in equal installments for the first twenty‑six (26) consecutive biweekly pay periods if approved at the time of hire. Termination will result in forfeiture of remaining payments. Eligibility is subject to County of El Dorado Personnel Rules.

The El Dorado County Sheriff’s Office is dedicated to providing exceptional public service and fostering leadership.

Opportunity

Public Safety Dispatchers will serve in Placerville, CA, assisting emergency response, and may serve as Communication Training Officers or Tactical Dispatchers.

Responsibilities
  • Receive, analyze, and evaluate 911, emergency, and business calls; transfer calls to appropriate parties or create law‑enforcement service calls.
  • Operate multi‑channel radio systems and monitor other communication channels; maintain radio traffic on main channels.
  • Respond to law‑enforcement‑initiated radio traffic and relay information to units.
  • Operate computer equipment to access criminal justice information systems and transmit information with allied agencies.
Qualifications

Public Safety Dispatcher I

  • High‑school graduate or equivalent.
  • One (1) year of public contact and/or non‑emergency dispatching experience.
