* Job Description:

**** POSITION SUMMARY The Emergency Staff RN assumes responsibility and accountability for patient care in the Emergency Department, utilizing the nursing process for a designated time frame. Provides care of these patients according to Marshall’s standard of practice. Maintains good public relations by interacting with patients, visitors, physicians, and other staff members in a friendly and professional manner.  Functions as the patient’s advocate at all times.  

Oversees the performance of any non-professional whose activities impact their patient’s care.  Ensures the safe handling of infectious material and ensures patient and staff safety at all times.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS# # Education/Licensure/Certification:
* Current California Registered Nursing (RN) license required
* Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
* Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification required
* Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification strongly preferred within 6 months of hire
* Mobile Intensive Care Nurse (MICN) strongly preferred within 2 years of hire
* Trauma Nursing Core Courses (TNCC) required within 1 year of hire Knowledge:
* 2 years RN experience required.
* ER experience preferred.
* Per Diem status positions, 2+ years Emergency department experience is strongly preferred.# #

Skills:

#
· Has the physical and mental health sufficient to accomplish the duties of a RN and is able to meet the pharmacology requirements of Marshall Medical Center.#
· Strong critical thinking and clinical judgment.#
· Ability to work effectively under pressure and multitask in a dynamic environment.#
· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.#
· Familiarity with EPIC.#
· Must have basic computer skills.
