The Health and Human Services Agency’s Social Services Division strives to improve the quality of life for the residents of El Dorado County. They help residents meet basic needs and ultimately become self-sufficient by offering the following services:
Cal Fresh, CalWORKs, General Assistance and employment services. Social Services also provides both Adult and Children’s protective services. Child Protective Services helps to identify, treat and reduce child abuse and neglect, and to ensure reasonable efforts are made to protect and maintain children in their homes.
The Adult Protective Services Program (APS) serves older (60 years and older) and dependent adults (18 - 64 who are disabled), when these adults are unable to meet their own needs, or are victims of abuse, neglect, or exploitation. APS works collaboratively with community partners including law enforcement and other first responders, hospitals and community service agencies and educates the public about reporting requirements and responsibilities under the Elder and Dependent Adult Abuse Reporting laws and brings greater awareness to the issues of abuse, neglect, and exploitation.
THEOPPORTUNITY
Use your skills and knowledge to assist Social Workers by performing paraprofessional tasks related to the improvement of family functioning and child and adult services.
Selected Candidate Will Have the Opportunity To:- Complete narrative reports regarding a client's condition and services provided and/or recommended.
- Enter data regarding case and client information and contacts into automated system.
- Make client referrals to medical personnel or Social Workers as needed.
- Provide direct training and coaching on parenting and household management skills, and teach families about nutritional meal preparation, budgeting, and household care.
- Monitor the medical and psychological care of children in foster care.
- Provide coaching that supports families to meet the unique needs of each child during their family time; document observations into the automated system and report said observations to the Social Worker.
- Provide emergency child care.
- Transport or accompany clients to appointments for service or interviews.

Human Resources will assess your application to determine if you are minimally qualified using the following minimum qualifications.Any combination of the required experience, education, and training that would provide the essential knowledge, skills, and abilities is qualifying.
Education and ExperienceSixty (60) semester units or ninety (90) quarter units of college, including fifteen (15) semester units or twenty-two and one half (22.5) quarter units in social welfare, social/human service, sociology, or other social or behavioral science*; OR Two (2) years of full-time experience providing direct social services support to individual clients and families in a public or private setting to disadvantaged adults or children.
* Examples of acceptable social or behavioral science courses include: anthropology, criminal justice, ethnic studies, human development, human services, psychology, social welfare, and sociology.
Licenses and Certifications- Possession of, or ability to obtain and maintain, a valid California or Nevada Driver's License and a satisfactory driving record.
